Coolers

Whats the choice for a cooler for the day or overnight ? Yeti ??
Our boat came with a cheep igloo cooler but ice doesn’t last very long in it

I was gifted an yeti like cooler, called an ARTIC.
It was heavy, very think walls so it did not hold as much as my regular cooler. And I still needed to add ice each day.
With my regular cooler I add one 8lb bag of ice a day and that keeps things cold. So I prefer the regular cooler to the yeti.

I don't know anything about Yeti, I can't justify the coast for my needs. I like my Igloo, it fits my needs.
I have learned to keep it in the shade and if it is really hot, throw a heavy blanket over it. I do not use bagged ice. I freeze blocks of ice, they will last longer. Make sure that everything is already ice cold before you add your ice. I'm sure there are other members her that can answer your question. I can only tell you what I would do, if you wanted to keep the one you have.

Most of the time we are going out for 3-4 hours and use a Yeti Tote Soft Cooler. While the ice ultimately melts everything inside stays nice and cold. With the strap it's easy to throw over your shoulder and carry.

I don't recall the mfr'r of my larger cooler. It is medium size. I don't use it very much as I don't spend a lot of time overnighting somewhere. But it is really useful on my Toronto overnights. An 8lb bag of ice will last me two days with some ice left over. Ice remains in the bag until a portion of it melts. I do have a huge cooler that must have come with the boat years ago. Way too big for my kind of boating.
