23 Surf thoughts

I’m wanting to upgrade our 1999 200le to a 23 Surf. I have chatted with a few dealers about. But nobody can give me real world usage of them and how they handle. How are they to surf behind? What size engine would you recommend etc. There are not many used ones on the market so I’m guessing people like them.
If anyone has real world I on it please share. The dealers are 8-12 months out if you order a new one.
thanks

No personal experience with the boat. My son in law is looking to upgrade his old ski natique ski boat and considering the surf 23. Looks like a nice boat. I was surprised at the starting price of 70k for a new one. Other boats I've priced seem outragious by comparison.

There are some surf 23's for sale on boattrader. https://www.boattrader.com/boats/make-chaparral/model-23-surf/

Boat test tried out the surf 23.

Thanks for the response Doc
I was surprised as well at the price. We did a build and it came out to 80k. But that is tens of thousands of dollars cheaper then a straight wakesurf boat of the other brands.
we like the 23 surf because it encompasses all facets of the boating lifestyle we like. Wakesurfing, wakeboarding, cruising etc. And I’m assuming they ride better in chop.

Well its been 2.5 years in the making but we finally upgraded our 1999 200LE to a 2023 23 Surf with the 300HP Merc. We actually purchased her in November last year and got a great deal on it. Its been a very long winter and are excited to splash her in a few weeks on Lake Cumberland.
