    Body Of Water

I rowed crew in HS. Not many schools had that. So we traveled from WV to Buffalo each year to row against St Canisious. 8 hour drive. Pulling shells and all. Every April. One year there was so much ice in the upper Niagara we went into Canada and rowed on a big lake i cant recall the...

    Buffalo boat shows-2

Great post. Nice Sea Ray but at half a mil it's so far out of reach it ain't funny. The Chap seems a bit more reasonably priced for todays market. Looks good too. Thanks.

    Body Of Water

Love lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow, but it's a 6+ hour drive. So we boat mainly on the Ohio River. Great boating community here. 45 miles of open boating before coming to a damn. We lock through for a change once in awhile. We have to watch out and move for barges otherwise it's hassle...

    1987 Chaparral XL178 3.0 Mercruiser Alpha 1

I had a similar problem with a Mercruiser 7.3. It would turn but not fire. Difference was if I poured some gas into the carb it would then start. Once I got it started it was good for the whole day of boating would start without any issue. Issue ended up being a bad fuel pump. You might...

    Boating License

Very nice. How much weight does that chain add to your boat? I still toss anchor by hand. Always will I suppose. At least I have the open bow and don't have to hop over the windshield like I had to with my Baja.

    Boating License

100ft of chain would be way to heavy for me. :wow: I have 6ft of heavy duty chain on 100ft of line. Works great for boating on the Ohio River. I also have 6 or more 15ft tie offs and another 100ft line for towing or when anchored and current is strong we put the line out for kids to hang on...

Same. I've needed and used the extra line plenty of times. Never ever have I needed an extra chain.

    Boating License

Good idea but if they make all boaters get one it seems more like another tax. New boaters need the safety course. Long time boaters might need to read up on them as a reminder but should not have to go to a class. But .... I have no clue what is required in Mass to get the Safety Certificate.

What might cause a dry Carb?

Issue with mine was frustrating because the fuel pump worked, was just low pressure. It never fell on it's nose but if it sat overnight I had to prime the carb to get it started. Then I was good for the day. It was tricky but we finally got to the bottom of it. Fuel pump fixed it.

    Impeller

Wondering if the impeller was in a bind in the old housing. Don't know how you could verify one way or the other. I upgraded to stainless steel housing for my sea water pump and it has worked out great. Good luck figuring this out and getting back on the water.

    Coolers

I was gifted an yeti like cooler, called an ARTIC. It was heavy, very think walls so it did not hold as much as my regular cooler. And I still needed to add ice each day. With my regular cooler I add one 8lb bag of ice a day and that keeps things cold. So I prefer the regular cooler to...

    Blended oil

I had an 89 Baja w/ 454. I bought it in 98. Ran regular oil in it until 2003. I switched to Mobil One and it worked great. Lowered my operating temp by 7 degrees. Did not cause any leaks. Didn't use as much oil as dino did during boating season. Less than a quart would need added in...
