Hello fellow boaters. I am sure this has been asked on here. But figure I would post the question.
Where do you do the majority of your boating.
We boat mainly on Lake Cumberland. This summer we want to try Norris Lake in TN.

Have a safe season everyone.

Love lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow, but it's a 6+ hour drive. So we boat mainly on the Ohio River. Great boating community here. 45 miles of open boating before coming to a damn. We lock through for a change once in awhile. We have to watch out and move for barges otherwise it's hassle free boating.

We live near the Cincinnati area but keep our boat at Cumberland. We use to boat the river all the time but now we go almost every weekend to the lake.

The islands have changed so much, ever since the introduction of the jet.

Question Iggy, do you have to pay to pleasure fish in the Ocean like we do in the fresh waters within the US boundaries?

I am in the eastern half of Lake Erie. I also have the Upper Niagara River. There are three ways to get to the Lower Niagara River:
1-Welland Canal
2-Trailer to Lewiston or Fort Niagara
3-shortest and most direct-over the brink of the Niagara Falls 😁 outcome is poor. Much worse than Haulover Inlet.

I also have access to the Erie Canal. Now that I have my boating course completed maybe I’ll venture further from home.

I rowed crew in HS. Not many schools had that. So we traveled from WV to Buffalo each year to row against St Canisious. 8 hour drive. Pulling shells and all. Every April. One year there was so much ice in the upper Niagara we went into Canada and rowed on a big lake i cant recall the name of (maybe st catherines). Always fun up there.

Canada has some beautiful waterways. I have been on a number of them on and around The Great Lakes, and they always seem to get it right.
They let Mother Nature have her way. And when they do build, it looks like it is part of it.

The Niagara River is absolutely jammed with ice now as it gets pushed over the ice boom. This includes the Black Rock Canal where rowing takes place above the lock.

This link show's the ice boom at the entrance to the Niagara River. If you look at this at the time I posted this, you won't see a thing as we are surrounded by heavy fog.

The ice is gone on our end of the lake, replaced with Walleye fishermen.
