Weird switch

I purchased a 1992 1900 SLC Sport and just to the left of the ignition switch is a weird rubber thing sticking up. you can depress it but it does nothing and doesn’t feel like anything is inside of the rubber bubble. Got under the panel and there is some sort of a switch there with a couple of wires running to it. Does anybody know what it is? Is it the safety switch? Should have taken a pic. Thank you, Don

Okay, here it is, the pic of the funny little rubber thing sticking up to the left of the steering wheel and right next to the ignition switch. What could it be?
