Garmin Echosmith 70s replacement

My 2014 246ssi came new with a flush mounted Garmin Echosmith 70s. The touch screen has stopped working and I’m told it’s not repairable. Garmin have discontinued this unit , the replacement model is bigger which means butchering the dash. Has anyone else had this issue and found a workable solution ?

If it is not repairable, and you like the unit, search the net for what they call new old stock. Someone out there has one, you just need to find them.
