Donating a boat. How easy is it?

Due to some incidents at the marina, it has really worn me down. Some shit never ends. I love my boat especially this year as it is humming right along even on Lake Erie. But the responsibility to maintain it among many other things associated with it.......its starting to really get at me. I see many boats for sale around my area. Many sitting in position for a long time. I don't want to bother with selling it and having to take it for a ride let alone having to deal with strangers. So that's why I'm considering donating it.

How does it work? Do they come and pick it up? Resell it and keep the money? Part it out? What am I allowed for the amount donated? One site said $500. That seems kinda ridiculous seeing as how my engine and outdrive must be worth a couple thousand alone.

Opinions needed.

So so sorry to hear this. That you would even consider this shocks me.
An I know nothing on the subject so I searched on donating a car to charity and found this turbo tax link.
I'm assuming donating a car or boat to charity would work the same.
