2001 235ssi

Hi. I’m looking at a 2001 235ssi. It has a 5.0 carbureted mercruiser With I think a alpha 1 drive
Is this a good combo for this size of boat

I have a 1987 Chap 235xlc. Works just fine. But you have to treat the Alpha One with care. It doesn't like being moved back and forth in an out of neutral at a fast rate several times [entering a tight slip].
