Mercruiser 3.0 Not getting spark to spark plugs. Have replaced the coil, and still no spark. Will turn over, and have used cap of gasoline poured directly into the carburator. Turns over great, new battery. No Start. I have been researching and found that the Tachometer could possibly be the culprit. Anyone with this problem that has resolved Please advise. Hope someone has a good answer. Tyga

I had a similar problem with a Mercruiser 7.3. It would turn but not fire. Difference was if I poured some gas into the carb it would then start. Once I got it started it was good for the whole day of boating would start without any issue.
Issue ended up being a bad fuel pump. You might try putting more than a capful of gas into the carb.
Hope this helps.

I'm with Doc. Check the fuel pump pressure. Don't understand the tach, all it does is monitor RPM's. Can you explain why?
Good luck, please keep us posted, it may help someone else.

Also check the voltage at the coil. Check your neutral switch at the throttle. I can't remember if that switch stops the engine from turning over or just kills the power to the coil.
