Installing Simrad NSX/SmartCraft and transducer; 2004 Sunesta 252

It's not a bad thing to use a specific switch to turn on the NEMA network. More so when the boat is not in use. Other wise it could be a drain on the batteries depending on what is on the network.

    New Boat Owner

Looks great! What type of boating are you doing lakes, salt? U.S.C.G. courses are a great help to new boaters, if you are one?

    Stereo Upgrade

Just a thought...... For a few more bucks, you can add another battery to the house bank. This could also aid in starting if your starting battery went bad or low.

The remotes are daisy chained by a NEMA2k network which makes it easier to wire. Plus most MDF (Simrad, Garmin to name a few) can be used as a remote too.

Battery Schematic for 2020 Chaparral SSI 21"?

It does sound like you left a wire off. OR you put the 2 wires to the pump on the same terminal. If the pump was working before you touched it and not after. Most likely you did not blow a fuse unless you wired it backwards.

This is what starboard is good for. Cut it, use a router to to trim the outer edges and drill holes as needed.

Look at Fusion Marine. A little pricy, but will worth it.

    Oil change

IF you can reach the drain plug!?!? Why not attach a drain hose with a plug at the end? Than you could pull it out though the boat's drain plug and its now hanging out side the boat. No pump needed and any mess is outside. Just a thought?

    Stern Anchor?

Just an FIY if you will........ In rough seas, I used a clam cleat. https://defender.com/en_us/clamcleat-cl204-mini-nylon-clamcleat-002040-1 As the boats bow goes down, I would pull on the line and jam it into the cleat. Than the boat would go up pulling the anchor. So the cleat took the...

Starboard is cut and shaped as if you were working with wood. Great for boats. https://www.boatoutfitters.com/material/plastic-sheet/king-starboard#:~:text=King%20Starboard%20has%20become%20the,variety%20of%20other%20marine%20products.

If it was me........ I would mount it in front of the compass. And not spend the extra money on someone re-doing the helm. You may want a bigger boat, I did! On my last boat I went with a two 7" screens. A little bigger boat, a Sig 290. But I get it have a bigger screen.

a windless is a great thing.

    Stern Anchor?

I would look at a Rocna or a Fortress anchor. Both have great holding power and will set quickly. The Rocna will hold even if your boat does a 180 turn were others will pull out. The Fortress is is light and easy to store and great for soft bottoms. The Rocna is good for all kinds of bottoms. I...

Hole in port side of 2024 chaparral 2024 SSI OB

You could have poured water into the drain and see where it was coming out. A few drops of food coloring can help too. Just trying to be helpful...

Lost my instrument panel lighting while instruments still working

Keep in mind that the op might have a no maintenance and other wise known as a sealed battery. You can always do a load test. A load tester range from $25 to $200. I bought a in the range of $60 off amazon with good reviews. At the start of every season, I would do a load test. After I blew...

Lost my instrument panel lighting while instruments still working

If it was me? I would go over all the wiring under the helm. The boat is now 16 yrs old. With that said, something could be loose and and you might have some corrosion building up on the connections and the wires. My own boat is 23yrs old. At times I had to cut the wire back due to the...

I bet that's a $200 to $300 part. It can get out of hand at times.

Simrad, a very good choice. I would use 3M's 4000 fast cure caulking.
