WORST TIME EVER FOR YACHTS OWNERS (INSANE FUEL COSTS $$$) BOAT ZONE

What they put in the fiberglass has changed. Its now lighter with the same hard surface. So that same boat is lighter that can take same impact if not more. But fiberglass to date is still the best for boats.

WORST TIME EVER FOR YACHTS OWNERS (INSANE FUEL COSTS $$$) BOAT ZONE

The Youtube video is all well and good. I was paying $3.00 per gal. averaging a $700 per year. Now closer to $5.50. But lets keep numbers round. If my yearly average went to $1,400. Its still the cheapest thing about boating. My slip fees and club membership is $2,000, winter storage $1,200...

    Signature 350/370 Auto Pilot

I don't have Flir. The more I think about it, yes a nice tool. I do have to say, radar and AIS are must haves. Flir is a great option, pricy still but prices are coming down.

    Signature 350/370 Auto Pilot

Having lunch is one thing, but playing the guitar? The A.P. does take some of the strain out of a long trip. Waves, wakes, wind and current don't affect the boat that much when using the A.P. It corrects the course faster than I ever could! A great tool when your in the fog! Keeping you going...

    Signature 350/370 Auto Pilot

I would go with Simrad, you will not regret it! Most boaters do not use the chart plotter to have the A.P. fellow a route. More so if the boat is as fast as yours. Safety first as they say. In other words, you can mix brands. Even if you go with Raymarine, you want a separate controller for...

    Signature 350/370 Auto Pilot

I had a Sig 290 which was rack & pinion. Is the 370 hydraulic? They do make a mechanical one to drive the steering. Hydraulic is much easier to install. You cut into the lines, add Tees and add more oil. Than make up your connections. I never had one before until I got this boat. I would...

    Bow Thruster

On a small boat as yours, I would not think it would be that high. If it was me I would ask, "how much if I do the wiring?" They may or may not like that. But the wiring is the easy part of all this. Which thruster are you installing? On the other hand, you may want to go with a bigger boat in...

    Bow Thruster

I don't think it would be 10K. A 297 is a very small boat to put a thruster in. This unit alone is in the low $1,300 range. https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?name=lewmar-110tt-1.5-bow-thruster-complete-package-with-tube-joystick-cable&path=-1|2331321|2331333|2331336&id=3207979 Of course...

    Bow Thruster

Of course you could. The big question is, do you have room in the bow to do so. Or are you going for a pod type that bolts on. You will need to enlarge your house battery bank or add a dedicated battery to power the thruster. Most boats in your size don't need one. Yes, they are very helpful...

Funny Picture Thread, Post em here.

Whats funny about the SS Minnow, the shows pilot was in 63 and started in 64. Could the boat be older? How did the figure of 41.5 miles come about? Its range must be farther than that.

Bravo 3 boating in salt water

If you have the money for a sat phone sure, but that would be far down on my list. The VHF is your best way to contact other boats and help. I was going to mention AIS and radar but I did not want to get very deep into this. Google AIS. With your GPS, others with AIS will show up as targets...
