Looks like winter is upon us on the Great Lakes

Hi guys. I made out ok. I got about 15 to 20 inches but that was nothing compared to what happened 10 miles south. They got hammered with 77 inches of snow in places. Friday night I was driving home and it was snowing moderately but still had reasonable visibility. But then it started...

Should I service trailer wheel bearings if there is no play or any visible problem?

I disliked my buddy bearings. I never really knew if I put too much or not enough grease in. They just never seemed to behave equally or consistently. My wheels are now capped. The trailer dealer said they are good for at least 2 years with above average usage. Drum brakes on rear axle only.

    Alpha-1 lower unit question

It is currently outside but will make its way to unheated inside storage. To me it’s such a risk……thanks for the reply.

    Alpha-1 lower unit question

There are only two times that I drain the lower unit: 1) To check for foreign debris or 2) time to change it. I never leave it drained and always refill it to protect the gears from exposure and therefore corrosion. But my friend just called and said he told his mechanic to drain the lower...

Nice picture. We've had such a nice Indian Summer it's amazing. How I wish I had my boat available this past week. But, with what I had to face, it's better in storage than home.

    The end is near

About one more week before I pull the boat of the marina. I made a short run this evening just to run it. Beautiful sunset on a well behaved Lake Erie. Good timing as gas prices are climbing. Here’s a short vid with a photo:

Anybody lock thru the Allegheny River?

Did they throw you a line to hold onto? On the Erie Canal, there are ropes and cables attached to the chamber walls so that you can either hold the rope or put a line around the cable.

Anybody lock thru the Allegheny River?

Yesterday I was riding my bike on the rail to trail path called the Armstrong Trail in PA. The section I rode on started at East Brady and I stopped at the Lock and Dam 9. This photo is #9. There a many boats tied up along the river. Not living in this region I just assumed that it was to...

    Skipped Canada/Erie Canal instead

Most of the section I was on was no wake at 10 mph. The problem with my boat is that at 10 mph I generate a large wake. For me 6 mph is maximum speed before the wake builds. I actually generate a smaller wake at 30mph than at 10. I believe the total lock lift is about 50 feet. The lower lock...

    Boating Oops

I read your post and at first I generally agreed. But watching the video imaging on the news and ALL those boats…….I began to ask myself…..”To where?” I’ll bet most of those boat owners don’t have a trailer or vehicle to tow it. How many marina’s have hundreds of transient slips waiting to...

    Skipped Canada/Erie Canal instead

I’ve been really wanting to go to Canada and take the boat to Toronto island. But for some reason, not yet determined why) I have lost my voice. So, even though I’m vax’d and boosted, I didn’t want to take the off chance they might snag me into quarantine. So I decided to navigate a small part...

Wall carpet has fallen-How do I get it back up?

Finally got this off my list. Here are a few pics: Prep to see if my remaining bunk wood would fit and hold the carpet. Plus the fan blasting away with fresh air. Second pic is ready to spray and third pic is finished and waiting to dry.
