    Fuel gauge

Next year my girl will turn 40 and I will have had 33 of them, with 2000 hrs. and still going strong. When I got her she had a bad fuel gauge, so I replaced it. A known factor back then, that gauges were not that good. So like SST and Iggy, I started to do the math with gals per hr. Then you...

How to clean boat's bottom to end the season?

Sorry about that, (old eyes). I can only tell you what works for me to expose my total bottom. The very back of my keel is flat and is not rounded or V pointed. They called it a planning plate. So I get a large thick block of wood and a floor jack and raise it from there with it still attached to...

    Wingnut

Maybe the caretakers of the site retired and there was no one that wanted to take over responsibility. I'm sure that Doc can tell you what it cost to run a site that does not generate any outside revenue, along with the time spent to keep it clean. Look at what was happening to the Chap site...

    Fuel Vapor smell

My blowers are the first thing to be turned on, and the last thing to be turned off. If the engine is on , so are my blowers, I have 2, 1 to catch the low fumes and 1 to catch the high fumes. They came standard with my girl.

    Fuel Vapor smell

Can you see the fill hose, can you trace it to the tank? Also can you see and trace the vent hose? If that all looks good, then the next thing that I would do, is to pressurize the tank. Somewhere under the deck you have the odor of raw gas or raw gas itself. If you and your friend's boats are...

    Fuel Vapor smell

Ok, see if you have a drain in the floor of the cabin. If you do smell the drain to see if the odor is stronger. Get a wet towel and put it over the drain and keep it there and keep it wet. Air it out the cabin then close it up to see if the odor comes back. Is the odor there all the time, or...

    Fuel Vapor smell

Trust me, I talk from experience, you have a situation that needs to be looked at. Mine was the fill hose to the tank deteriorated and was like a wet sponge. Close things up there was an odor, open things up odor disappeared. Found it by pressurizing the fuel tank. It could be something very...

    Garmin Echosmith 70s replacement

If it is not repairable, and you like the unit, search the net for what they call new old stock. Someone out there has one, you just need to find them.

Sorry for the dumb question but what are these on my 2016 Suncoast 250?

Being that it is so close to the seawater, my guess is that it is a drain for an option that you may not have. So they put in a plug, that is removable if added. If you can get at the area, poke around and see if you can see where it goes. Also welcome to the forum. And as Doc says there are no...

    Stern Anchor?

If it does not dig in , it has the same holding power as a cement block of the same weight. Back in the day we would get an empty 3lb coffee can, stick a rope in it, and fill it up with concrete to use it for an anchor on a small rowboat.:)

Gel coat discussion-I don’t get it.

I believe what you did, was to sand down through the tiny microscopic pin holes in the gelcoat that form with age and is part of the aging process. When I painted my girl, there was a about a 1ft sq area that was not sanded well enough and all these tiny pin holes showed up when the primer was...

    2010 SSX Vinyl Fabric seach

Can you post some pics so we can see what the bolsters look like in relation to the bulk heads? They tend to hide the screws and bolts. Sun pads are extremely heavy and seem to get bigger when you get them off. Kind of like when you cut a tree down and it is on the ground. They are held on with...

    Looking to buy a 1998 signature 270

In today's world, the cheapest boating you can do, is find someone, offer them a few hundred dollars to take you for a ride for the day. If I had to buy a new or well kept used boat today, I would play more golf.:smile4:
