    Looking to upgrade in Ontario...

Hey all. We've decided to up-size from our low hrs (~360) Signature 270 (2005) with onboard generator and tri-axle galvanized trailer, in order to upgrade to a Signature 310 of about the same model year (~2004-2009). Anybody out there in Ontario/Quebec have a Signature 310 with onboard...

    Bilge Float Switch

And let's not forget Murphy's Law of automotive mechanics: Any part or tool that drops while working on an engine will always land in the least accessible location or under the geographic center of the vehicle. Corollary...unless there is a drain.?

    Transom seal

So...an update of sorts on the potential transom seal leak. Launched a few weeks back with an empty bilge. Literally putted over from the ramp to our slip and found the bilge with water in it (again). Emptied it out and dried it completely. Sat for a week at the dock with not a drop coming...

    My Girl, Show & Tell

We are docked at the military base, Garrison Petawawa. It's on the Ottawa River. That's the river that opened up North America to the French explorers and fur traders back in the 1600's. It runs from Lake Temiskaming in northern Ontario all the way to Montreal where it empties into the St...

    Yes, this site is dying!

Perhaps don't remove the old posts but create an "archive" thread where you can dump them and people can peruse them them if they so choose?

    Getting Closer 2021

Docks are in at the military base on the Ottawa River (eastern Ontario) where we keep Signature 270. :) Need to wait another week or so until the blackflies die off (they will drive you to insanity) and the spring flooding has receded enough to give us our beaches back lol! Soon!!!

    Boat Surfing and Boom Boxes

I hear you. Lots of newbies have never hung around with some of us "old farts" and learned any boating etiquette or safety stuff. Simple things like: Don't pack/unpack/prep your boat while on the ramp...do it in the parking lot before you go to the ramp or after you've pulled out so you don't...

    Has anyone...

I use it. I works similar to 3m oxidation remover and wax (though not as "aggressive") except its much easier to buff off. Its really good for light duty stuff.

    My Girl, Show & Tell

Since our docks don't have shore power, this is how we keep the 2 starting and 1 deep cycle house battery charged. Each panel is a 40w unit that sits on the bow and charges them all week when we're not at the boat. I string a rope through the feet and tie them off against the railing to...

    Launching a 26-28' cruiser with a 2WD Burb

Go with your gut! Safety takes precedent over everything! Besides, do you want to be that guy? The one who has to explain the drowned Suburban to his insurance company?

    Signature Sub Thread?

Hey all, I find it challenging to have to drill down to find “Signature related” items here. I was just wondering if there is sufficient interest in having the mods establish a “Signature” sub thread of the Chaparral Boat Owners Forum?

    Transom seal

No. But its the educated guess of my marine mechanic who showed me where two very thin streams of water were “trickling” in down the wall while looking underneath the oil pan of the port motor through to the transom. It could be the y pipe I suppose but I suspect that can be best confirmed by...

    Transom seal

Anybody ever replace a transom seal on a Bravo III? If anyone has any experience with such a repair I’d love to hear what’s all involved, if there’s anything to be concerned about and what I can expect to pay.

Those are some stunning images of the rock formations! Sigh...I can only dream of boating for that many months.

    Pictures of your boats

Reminds me of sections of our Ottawa River. Some have lovely sand beaches that go on and on and other parts are very rugged with rocks and trees to the water’s edge with high elevations on either side.

It can get tight in some of the narrow channels between the islands but there is plenty of water to play in through most of the navigable parts. It happens mostly on the weekends when the day boats come out. Plenty of young families with kids who come out and shake things up a bit during the...
