Re: I"m ready for boating season, are you?

I took my kayak out fishing a little over a week ago. I didn't catch my target fish, but did manage to catch a few.

Re: Ok, got a pic of my kayak

Doc,

1) Price - this thing only cost me $700
2) I don't even need a trailer. Just load it into the back of the truck and strap it down. Heck, if I'd get a rack system for my car, I could haul...

Re: Ok, got a pic of my kayak

I'll probably get splashed by a beaver this year. I've been noticing A LOT of beaver damage on trees near the river lately, and at least one of the lakes I usually go to has beavers in it.

Re: Ok, got a pic of my kayak

Engines? What engines? I AM the motive power!

I haven't fallen out of it, yet. I will admit that I've only taken it out on blue-bird days, with maybe 1" high waves. I've only had to deal with...

Ok, got a pic of my kayak

It's a 2007 Perception Search 13. 13' long, 30" beam. I've got a fishfinder installed, and several additional rod holders. The yellow thing in the tankwell is my drift sock.

Re: Action!

I just got a digicam. I'll try and get pics of my kayak here soon.

I need to repair a busted padeye, and I'd like to do some cosmetic painting.

Re: Looks like my boating is done for this year

Being plastic, I don't think water sitting in the hull would pose a problem, unless it froze. Even then, the hull would have to be full, or nearly full, for expansion to become a problem.

I...

Looks like my boating is done for this year

Due to weather, and our recent move, I haven't been able to take my kayak out in the past two months.

Currently, it's in the garage. I still want to winterize it a bit. I don't have a motor to...

Re: I christen thee the "Cat Yak"....

I went and bought a cheap extension cord holder (the kind you wind yourself by hand) to hold my anchor rope. I put a pool noodle on one side for floatation. I still haven't tried anchoring.

I...

Re: I christen thee the "Cat Yak"....

That's illegal in this state. To sell a wild fish that you harvest out of State/Federal/City waters, you have to have a commercial license.

There's a few folks that severely over-harvest our fish...

Re: I christen thee the "Cat Yak"....

I've heard that about anchor lines. My current line is only 50'. I have the line tied to the bottom end of the anchor, run the line up to the top, and attach it with a zip tie. If it gets snagged,...

I christen thee the "Cat Yak"....

Or possibly the "Sunfish Slayer".

I've had the thing out many times now. The first few times weren't so much for fishing as they were for me to figure out how manueverable it is, what kind of...

I did it!

Thursday I bought a Perception Search 13 (13') fishing kayak. Shortly after I got it home, I realized I had a problem with it. When I came home from work Thursday night, I realized I had a second...

http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/7001/2008truckinriver.jpg

Saw this last year when PeppA and I went fishing. We aren't sure how or why it ended up in the river, but I'd say it was suspicious. ...

Re: Boat Shopping?

Doc, I've NEVER bought a new vehicle. Always used. I cannot afford a new motorboat. I've been looking at used motorboats, until someone I worked with suggested I just get a canoe or kayak. That...

Re: Hailing Frequencies Open!

Doc, Lake Santee-Cooper, in NC. Lots and LOTS of broken-off stumps just below, at, or above the surface, depending on lake level at that time, not to mention some submerged hilltops just below lake...

Re: Hailing Frequencies Open!

Yeah, I figured it would be a bit slower over here.

Some of those bass boat folks, especially the tourney fishers, have no common sense at all. Some of the stories I've read over on Master...

Re: Boat Shopping?

Hi Doc,

I'm in the market for something to go fishing with. I've looked at a fiberglass trihull. It was old. PeppA, my other half, refused to let me haul it with her truck, and drove off while...
