RSS_User info

I've been asked by more than one member ...and had one of the mods ban the RSS_User thinking he was a spammer ...so I guess it's time I do a little explaining.

RSS = Realy Simple Syndication.
It is much like email without the spam. I had to ask for the RSS feed to post stuff here on Net Boat Talk. I signed up for a Captian Blog and for Boats for Sale. So far only the boats for sale have shown up with posts here. These posts are in a separate classified forum on purpose (in hopes of less confusion).
It adds content and gives google key words and phrases to find us with. So I hope it will help grow our boating site.

So don't worry about this RSS_User guy. He is a robot doing what I asked him to do. Post content. :D

Is there any way to omit the RSS feed from the "New Posts"?

I'm not in the market for a boat right now but honestly don't want to page through hundreds of these before I find a thread of other content.

I do believe any user can opt out of seeing new posts from a particular forum. I vaguely remember this option ....but have never used it. Let me dig into it and see what I have to do to turn on that option so that you have a choice.
If you look and find you can do that now, please let me know and tell us all how you did it. TIA.

When you log into NBT, don't have your favorite link set to http://www.netboattalk.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew

That will get all new posts since your last visit. Instead have your link point to the main index at http://www.netboattalk.com/forums/index.php

Then just look for the forums that have new posts indicated with the icon.
