Should you have the type that opens with a button or switch, check the wiring to see where the pump and solenoids are. Most batteries also go into the engine compartment so if you were to have dead batteries you cannot raise the hatch.Wire up a remote power cable to a conveniant place outside the engine room . This way you can carrry on a battery to open the hatch.
