Should you experiance a drive that will not come off after shifting into fwd, removed the 6 nuts, and ram attachment you can try this.
Re-attach the rams, using a 4 -3/4 inch section of 1/2 or 3/4 inch gas pipe or equivilent ,place between the upper unit cap and the steering ring top.GENTLY apply ram pressure to force the unit out to break the seal.
If you need more ,lower unit ,insert shim material, raise GENTLY.
For Series`1 drives,change the top cap to a Alpha style.

I know, I had to make one to remove a glued on drive. Either paint or some kind of sealant was holding it on solid.Put the pipe in and used 2 inches of ram travel and it just popped off.
